Implementation Service - Customisation and Training
The smooth operation of any business requires that each employee learns and knows their role and fully understands your business policies, rules and procedures, so the implementation of a new system is a perfect time to review and perhaps re-establish that role.
Typically, most "training" will occur in an informal setting during the onsite customisation stage, as part of the process of defining and testing the desired configuration. Passing on knowledge in this way has been found to be most effective, as it provides an opportunity to consult, design and customise the system to suit the needs of the business. Under this arrangement, information will be passed on to our technicians about how your business operates, they will then customise the system to meet those needs then teach the skills to the key people who require it. This allows skills sets learnt within the organisation to be passed on when a change in role requires it or when new staff join. This work is ongoing and is usually carried out over a period of time, requiring more than one visit, depending on the level of customisation required.
Typically topics covered under training may include some or all of the following but can vary from business to business depending on where they have set priorities and what areas they deem to be more important for their business and installation budget.
- System and network maintenance including start-up and shutdown procedures
- Data security and backup
- Equipment maintenance and security
- Correct use of application software
- Point of Sale and end-of-day procedures
- Entering of data for stock, debtors, creditors
- Correct use of sales, stock and debtor reports
- Stocktake, purchase orders, and data export procedures
- Use of report writer procedures, where applicable
- Use of specialised productivity tools like macros, groups, families and quick action functions
- Suggestions and advice on procedural and personnel issues, which may have a positive impact on system performance
- Guidance on good retail management practice, as appropriate
This training can be delivered immediately, or usually, over a one to two month period with each session a stepping-stone towards complete implementation of your Retail POS system. Its success relies on putting theory into immediate practice to re-enforce the learning. You and your staff and the time you commit to it will determine the pace of training delivery.
